18⁄02⁄2009 Tips For Building A Professional WebsiteBefore you start building your website it’s important to get a feeling of what your visitors and search engines will look for. These website basics will help you build a website to attract potential customers and search engines. Potential Customers When people use the Internet they are mainly looking for one thing. That thing is information. People want to find what they are looking for without being distracted by fancy graphics, music or flashing images. They also don’t want to be confronted with sales page after sales page selling them everything under the sun. Think about it, if you type in puppy care and find tons of websites selling books about puppies you’re going to be disappointed. You want information on how to care for your puppy now and you don’t want to pay for it. Now if you find a website that gives you puppy care instructions and help for free, then that same website makes recommendations for a book or tool about puppy training then you’ll be more likely to trust their recommendation more than the other site just trying to sell you a product. There are millions of site on the net, people don’t know you or your business. You need to build a sense of trust and relationship. And the only way to do this is by providing valuable information. Search Engines Search engines also want one thing, and that is to provide their customers (surfers using their search engines) with the most highly accurate results possible. This will make them stand out from their competitors. Remember they are in business just like you. Always, keep this in mind. Provide highly targeted and valuable content and the search engines will reward you with higher rankings. Your valuable content will help the search engines provide highly targeted results to their customers. In turn, you’ll attract more customers to your site. And your customers will be happy they found what they were looking for. It’s a win/win situation for all involved. And this is the position you want to be in. Search Engine and Human Friendly Design Make it easy for people to read your valuable words by using standard Ariel or Verdana font in black. Don’t use a color or picture background. Always use white. Make it easy for everyone to find what they’re looking for by including a site map and easy to follow links. Place a form on your website to make it easy for customers to contact you. Always reply in a prompt and friendly manner. Have a survey where people can leave comments about your services or website. Always think of ways to make it easier for your customers. And for those all important search engines, don’t forget to optimize each of your pages to make it easy for their robots to find you. That’s the key to being successful on line and building lasting relationships with your customers and search engines. Give your customers what they want (both human and search engines). Think about their needs first and foremost. And try to fulfill them in any way you can. Those are the building blocks of successful businesses. “Always fulfill the needs of your customers first and success will follow” For More Topics On This Check Out This Blog!

19/02/10 ITS BEEN AWHILE Yes I know it has been , quite
some time since I have posted anything on here. I have been really
busy, the last few months and I am sorry about that. Actually
I am still busy but I just got a email from a friend that I though was
funny so I thought you might like to read it. By the way I am from a
rural area in Ontario, and once you read this you will understand why I
mentioned this. I will try to post more often on here too. ![]() THE RULES OF RURAL ONTARIO ARE AS FOLLOWS Listen up City Slickers! 1.
Pull your droopy pants up. You look like an idiot. 2. Turn your cap straight, your head isn't crooked. 3. Let's get this straight; it's called a 'dirt road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're going to get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way. 4. They are cattle. They're live steaks. That's why they smell funny to you. But they smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? Hwy 7 & 401 goes east and west, Hwy 15 & 416 goes north and south. Pick one. 5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $150,000 combines and hay balers that are driven only 3 weeks a year. 6. So every person in rural Ontario waves. It's called 'being friendly'. Try to understand the concept. 7. If that cell phone rings while an 8-point buck and 3 does are coming in, we WILL shoot it out of your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time. 8. Yeah, we eat meat and potatoes. You really want sushi & caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop. 9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer hunting season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November. 10. We open doors for women. That is applied to all women, regardless of age. 11. There's little for 'vegetarians' on the menu. Order steak. Or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham & turkey. 12. When we sit a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup. 13. You bring 'coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice. 14. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair. 15. Ontario Hockey League and Minor Hockey is as important here as the Maple Leafs and Montreal Habs, and more fun to watch. 16. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards -- it spooks the fish. 17. Colleges? We have them all over. We have Universities and Community Colleges. The students come outta there with an education plus a love for God and country, and they still wave at everybody when they come for the holidays. 18. We have a whole ton of folks in the Armed Forces. So don't mess with us. If you do, you will get whipped by the best. 19. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers. (Refer back to #1). 20. TWO inches of snow & ice isn't a blizzard - it's a vacation. Drive like you got some sense in it, and DON'T take all our bread, milk, and bleach from the grocery stores. This ain't Alaska , worst case you may have to live a whole day without croissants. The pickups with snow blades and tractors with snow blowers will have you out the next day. ![]() A true Ontarian will send this on!!! 24/02/10 THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATIONYou
know one never knows where your path in life will lead you. You start
down one path, then something happens and you get distracted and you
find yourself following another path. They say you can create your own
destiny, but with all the distractions you run into during your life
time, how do you know if you are on the right path? You don't and you
will never know, until you reach the end of your journey. You may try
to figure out your destiny and you may try to control it, but what you
will find out is the journey is the destination. Take the story of a man who thought he knew what his destiny was, he thought he was on the path to where his life's journey was leading him to. He was well educated, had a wonderful family, was head of his own multi-million dollar company and was loved by everyone that knew him. He had it all, no stress, no financial worries, he knew exactly where his path in life was heading to, and then the unforeseen happened. He developed a heart condition, in which the flow of blood back to his heart became restricted, due to plaque build up in the coronary artery. The strange part about it was, there was no signs of problems leading up to this , no history of heart problems in his family, he was still fairly young, he ate healthy and exercised regularly, no history of severe chronic angina, this should not be happening to him. His family doctor prescribed all kinds of medication to him, to try and dissolve the plaque build up, but nothing worked. Heart specialists were brought in and all kinds of tests were done, to try and find out why this was happening and how to resolve it. No one could tell him why this was happening and then he was told, at the current rate of progression of the plaque build-up, he could easily have a massive fatal heart attack within one year. Now you may think the story ends here, but no you see this man was the head of a company that dealt with herbs and he was a well know herbalist and he soon realized if he wanted to change what was happening to him, he was the solution. He knew that a lot of the pharmaceutical remedies in the market were actually derived from herbs, and that there had to be a cure somewhere in the several hundred thousands types of herbs that were out there. So he spent the next 6 months traveling around the world, gathering special herbs, analyzing them, studying their effects at his companies laboratory. Then in the midst of all this he came upon a herb that had an amazing effect on cancerous gene that effected thousands of people each year. This herb would actually destroy the cancer or at least give the person who had it years longer to live. Then another twist of fate happened, an old friend from the orient had a grandfather who developed the cancer that his herbal remedy could cure, and after 3 months being on the herbal remedy he was completely cured. Now his friend was very grateful to him, but could tell that something was bothering him. So the man told his friend about his condition and how he was trying to find a cure. His friend listened and told him, give me a few weeks and I will get back to you I may be able to help you. Turns out his friends grandfather was a well know herbalist in his country and knew of a special plant that grew high on the mountains where he lived. He also knew of the type of problem the man had and knew that the plant would cure him. So it was not too long afterwards the man was well on the road to recovery and completely cured. The grandfather and the man soon joined together and formed a huge world wide company that would come out with more cures using herbs and plants, and it was this company that came out with a cure for a influenza problem that effected the world years later. But this is a story for another time. So you see, no matter where you think your path in life leads you and no matter how you try to control your destiny, things can change. You cannot control your fate or destiny, but you can have an effect on it , so stop trying to figure it out because the journey is the destination. You will know when you get there. ![]() . 02/07/2010 H S T How It Effects UsYou know when I first heard
about the HST, I thought oh great another tax grab here we go again
another way for the government to screw us. Then on July lst I seen the
first effect gasoline went up in my area from a average of 92.5 to 96.0
cents a liter, to $1.00 to $1.04 a liter. Now if you are like me and
use your car a lot this could mean a significant increase. So I decided
to check out where the HST is going to effect us, and what I found out
was quite interesting. A lot of things I heard that was supposed to be
taxed, are not and some things that are actually most things will
actually save us money in the long run. Case point buying a new home
yes we will pay HST on it (not on a resale), but the actual cost of the
home will be lowered because the builder will save money on PST charges
that they incurred when building the home. Below is a video that better
explains this. I also found out there will be
a number of tax breaks in it for us, at least for now. You can check
out this link Tax
Break to find out more info. You know our government has
thrown a lot of crap at us and said it was suppose to help us out, and
so far the only thing it helped was to empty our wallets and increase
theirs. But this may be something that will actually help us save money
and improve the job market. Time will only tell. There are a number of
things that you purchase that will get a tax break, that is no HST
charged, while other items will be charged. Here is a link that
summarizes it HST
Charges. All I can say for now is its costing me a lot more to fill my tank now, and this is where I see the biggest disadvantage to this HST. I'm going to wait a few months and see what happens then I will post another blog and let you know what I found out. Who knows maybe I will actually have some spare change :) ![]() |
