trash cans will be a thing of the past after you built this attractive
bin. The front folds down to provide easy access, while the sloping
roof keeps your containers dry.

Start construction by laying out
and cutting the 2x4 side frame members as shown in the diagram.
Assemble the frames with 8d galvanized finishing nails and resorcinol
glue. Cut the braces to length, then form the rabbet on the top front
brace with a dado blade. Notch the top center brace, as shown, with a
hand or saber saw. Attach the braces to the side frames with 8d
galvanized finishing nails and glue. Check the squareness of your
assembled work as you go along with a framing square. Lay out the
materials made of Georgia-Pacific Texture 1-11 siding. Cut these pieces
with a plywood blade in your circular saw, using a clamp-on guide. Cut
it with the good side facing down to minimize splintering. Attach 1x2
cleats to the sides, then install the roof and sides with glue and 4d
galvanized finishing nails. Cut the floor and back sections from the
sheets of ¾-in exterior plywood. Notch the corners
of the floor to clear the 2x4 side frames. Install the 2x4
floor brace, then attach the floor and back with glue and 4d galvanized
finishing nails. Secure the handgrip to the door in the same manner.
Cut mortises for the hinges with a sharp chisel. The mortises should be
as deep as a folded hinge. Install the hinges and the roller catches.

Stain the finished bin to suit
your taste, then complete the project by applying two coats of clear
wood sealer, such as Thompson's Water Seal.
