For fast and accurate tenons
this home made tenoning jig should come in handy. It can be used with a
standard saw blade on a table saw. It is used to fit the rip fence and
slides along it during use, and by using the saws fence scale you can
make very accurate adjustments when lining up the jig and the work to
the blade. The stock support holds the work vertically for cutting
standard tenons, or it can be removed for cutting angled tenons. When
you are constructing this jig, make sure the fence is precisely
perpendicular to the table saw top, so that the tenons will be
accurate. Another thing is the stock support, which not only registers
the work piece at the correct angle to the blade, but also prevents
tear-out. when the stock is removed, you can clamp the
work-pieces at different positions on the fence to cut
different angles, such as a mitered tenon. When you go to design the
handle make one that is comfortable when you use it or you can purchase
one and install it. To keep the stock in good working order, regularly
trim its lower end and reposition it when it gets to chewed up,so that
it can offer a solid back-up. This jig should;d give you years of good
service and the only piece you may have to replace is the stock
support. | |
