Email marketing is a very effective way to use in your Internet marketing campaign. Using email marketing is thought by many business owners as being no good because it is considered purely spam. This is not true and could cause you to lose out on a great deal of potential sales. When you do not use this technique of selling, you may lose a great deal of business to other marketeers that are using email marketing to reach customers around the world. In order to do this properly you must do it in a step by step process. The first step is to create an email distribution list.


This is basically a list of email addresses to which you will email your advertising and promotional material to. There are various ways of doing this , you may purchase a list from distributors, but this is not recommended for a number of reasons most importantly being you do not know if the members of that list would be even interested in what you are selling. Then if this is the case you just wasted your time. This is why it is very important to reach members who are interested in the product or service you are selling.

Years ago it use to be easy to send out email messages out to anyone and get people to click on your email to read it. This has changed due to the fact that people are quite wary of spam and with the use of email spam filters most of these get deleted anyways, unless the internet user allows your email through, this is called white listing. White listing is where the internet user allows your email's to come through to them.


A more effective way to create an email distribution list is to ask current customers as well as potential customers to register or opt in to your web site so that they can receive regular updates about your products and services or other information that they may be interested in. This will be your database of email addresses of customers who are actually interested in your products and services.

Now that you have a list of interested or potential customers, you will need to find a way to distribute your content to them. A good way of doing this is to create a e-newsletter whose documents contain a great source of valuable information well as a mild sales pitch to encourage them  to try out your products and services. Another thing you can do is to include useful links to your web site or to other web sites that may be of interest to your customers. Your e-newsletter should contain content that is not only informative, but also urges your customer to take a specific action such as making a purchase or reading more about the product or service, which you can divulge into more in future e-newsletters.

Even though it is possible to reach a worldwide audience with other types of advertising,  traditional types of advertising such as television, radio and the print media are not nearly as effective for reaching potential customers around the world all at once. Another major advantage to email marketing is it is exceedingly affordable. The costs associated with email marketing are minimal. Ideally you will already have a list of email recipients who are interested in your products and services so there is no cost associated with obtaining a list of email addresses. While many business owners tend to shy away from email marketing campaigns because they believe these campaigns are always viewed as spam, others realize the importance of this type of advertising and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort into organizing their email marketing campaign.
